Stephen Russo, PhD

Dr. Stephen Russo is a Clinical Sport Psychologist and Concussion Management Specialist. He received his PhD and MS in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University and holds a BS from the University of Pittsburgh. He has been an applied sport psychologist since 1998, serving as the Director of Sport Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's (UPMC) Center for Sports Medicine and the International Junior Golf Academy (IJGA). He is a nationally and internationally recognized expert on sport psychology, mental training, and peak performance as well as sport-related concussion. Dr. Russo was Associate Professor and Founder/Director of the Sports Concussion Program at Nova Southeastern University for almost 10 years before coming to Thomas Jefferson University in 2016. Prior to his work at Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Russo, in collaboration with Drs. Anthony Kontos and Michael Collins, outlined the appropriate management of sport-related concussion for sport psychology professionals. Dr. Russo is licensed in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Florida.
