An assessment of nervous system functioning, including tests of movement and sensation.
Neurological Exam

Neurological assessment after concussion should be performed by a medical professional and include a detailed physical examination to verify cognitive function. Physicians will look at speech, memory and mental status; hearing, sight and smell; as well as basic movements of the head and body through assessment of the following:

  • Coordination
  • Cranial Nerves
  • Gait Testing
  • Higher Functions
  • Motor Examinations
  • Reflex Testing
  • Sensory Examinations

Disfunction in these areas give the physician feedback about potential injury and guide next steps in a clinical exam.
