BESS

The BESS test is used to assess static balance in athletic or active populations. The test includes six testing positions of varying difficulty for which the patient needs to maintain their balance. Results from this test help clinicians to determine whether patients are ready to return to play after concussions, or if they need additional treatment. The test can be completed in less than 10 minutes and may be part of a more comprehensive examination performed by the physician or physical therapist.
